Stressed More Than You Know

“I am stressed about being stressed” – Unknown

Everyone else seems to be okay with the amount of assignments piling on top of each other. But … maybe they just have it together more than I do.

I am so overwhelmed that I have anxiety attacks where it’s like I am frozen in time. I am watching the time go by but I just sit, stand, or lay there unable to move or do anything. This leads to a lot of procrastination, as you can imagine. All of this just ends up giving me even more stress because I was so unbelievably unproductive. It has come to the point where my stress is giving me more stress; there is way too many hormones surging throughout my body, it makes me feel sick. I only wish I could take enough time to breathe and reset to not be as stressed, but unfortunately for me, it doesn’t work that way. I really wish it did. I wish I could push past all the stress and just focus on what needs to be accomplished, so I could be less stressed. I even made to-do lists but they never worked. I tried to do self-care like yoga, work out, or free time but they made me more tired or distracted. At this point, it is inevitable because I am always going to be stressed and I will always stress about stressing.

Time stands still, but my brain is constantly stressing.

However, I made a list of the Top 5 Things Getting Me Through the Semester because I was trying to focus on the good.

  1. Australia
  2. Christmas
  3. My Friends
  4. My Fav Prof
  5. C…..

88 more days until I am officially done with this semester! That’s not very many when you put it in perspective. I can do this!! I know I can and whenever I get stuck, my best bet will be to refer back to my Top 5 Things Getting Me Through the Semester.

That’s My Life

Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.

— Oscar Wilde.

Life is hard. And living with anxiety and depression can be even more difficult. It’s not impossible, just difficult. My depression and anxiety inhibit me from doing some of the things I love and makes me feel like a completely different person majority of the time. My normal is different than everyone else’s normal. There’s nothing wrong with that. We each have our own qualities, some we like and others we don’t. There is no sense in trying to be like someone else just because you think you should.

It drains me, leaves me on edge, or makes me feel completely alone. For me, the stress my anxiety gives me and the isolation from my depression is the worst part. Some days are good days and others are bad. That’s just how it goes and that’s life. I try to live life to the fullest and enjoy all of the happy moments, no matter how big or small.

It’s hard to say how long I have been living with anxiety and depression, but that’s just me and I am not ashamed.

Yours Truly,

Anxious & Depressed Me

Introducing Anxious & Depressed Me

I am a university student living with anxiety and depression. My struggles are real and so are yours. It is likely that if you are reading this blog, you too are living this way. Now, don’t get me wrong everyone can be anxious or depressed. However, there comes a time when they become unhealthy and inhibit you from living in the best way possible for yourself. I am at that point.

I have not officially been diagnosed with anxiety or depression, but I know that I would be if I took time to seek all the correct medical attention that I likely need. The reason I haven’t yet? Well, it’s a long story, for another time.

Throughout this blog, I want to share my story. I hope that others will be able to make their own connections by expressing myself more publicly. There is going to be ups and downs, my accomplishments and my bad days. I want to be as positive and inspiring as possible, but living with anxiety and depression doesn’t make that easy. It is okay to talk about the bad days too, that is how we express ourselves and move forward.

You’re not alone.

Yours Truly,

Anxious & Depressed Me
